Why headlines are important
In addition to learning about captions in early February, I also learned about the usage of headlines. Headlines are used to identify content, giving information about a season, event, or general occurrence. Headlines are important because they are able to vaguely summarize what a article is going to be about. A good headline will pique the readers interest and grab hold of their attention, determining whether they decide continue reading the publication or not.
In order to have a good headline, it should:
- Grab the reader attention
- Be unique and memorable
- Have a teaser
- Have a teller
- Utilize a literary device (rhyme, alliteration, pun)
- Have factual information
For an assignment, I had to create a headline to describe what was going on in an image.
